TADVS MISSION

Serve as the association of choice for leaders of healthcare related volunteer programs by promoting professional and personal development. TADVS will provide its membership with dynamic educational programs, a comprehensive communication network, and leadership opportunities.
 

 

  TADVS STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

1.  Be proactive by providing dynamic educational programs, with consideration given to member needs and current trends.

  • Provide opportunity for CAVS certification
  • Provide strong, effective communication about the education conference in a timely manner
  • Consider conference evaluations to determine membership needs
  • Strengthen networking opportunities by identifying attendees appropriately
  • Research trends, resources, and quality speakers
  • Consider carefully conference locations, time and length of conference; provide affordable accommodations
  • Collaborate with other societies
  • Support area/regional education efforts

 

2.  Address specific needs of all TADVS members through more effective communication

  • Maintain and enhance on-line capabilities
  • Publish an electronic newsletter quarterly, with hard copies sent as requested
  • Link websites, chat rooms and bulletin boards
  • Conduct regular membership surveys to determine needs, skills, and leadership interest
  • Develop DVS mentoring system at the District level
  • Encourage two-way communication between membership and District Directors, allowing district directors to represent TADVS

 

3.  Expand membership of TADVS while maintaining the integrity of the society

  • Offer membership to

>consultant leaders (i.e., professional speakers)
>managers of healthcare societies
>non-paid volunteer managers
>paid managers who supervise volunteers, but have a different title

  • Create tiered membership

>full membership
>discount membership for assistants/coordinators

  • Incorporate other societies

 

4. Develop interest and leadership for TADVS Board positions within the organization

  • Develop a conference session/workshop educating attendees on leadership roles and TADVS participation
  • Encourage participation through mentoring program and personal contacts
  • Post leadership job descriptions and interest surveys on TADVS website
  • Publish leadership information in newsletter

 

5. To continue open communication and collaborative educational opportunities with TAHV.

  • Include TAHV leadership in strategic planning
  • Joint conferences
  • Regular TAHV/TAHV leadership exchanges
  • Offer professional support services to TAHV members
  • Encourage and promote regional and district conferences
  • Explore regional junior volunteer conferences
  • Support Traveling Topics and other distance learning opportunities

 

6. Strengthen the strategic alliance with ASDVS

  • Encourage dual membership (ASDVS/TADVS); one fee
  • Promote ASDVS conference to be held in Texas
  • Link ASDVS and TADVS website
  • Continue ASDVS liaison position on TADVS board

>promote and support TADVS members for ASDVS leadership positions
>Promote ASDVS professional growth opportunities
>Promote TADVS member participation on ASDVS committees and conferences
